On Saturday morning, the 11th, the whole family is laying in bed watching TV. Tommy asks us if we would like to go on a surprise mini vacation. Of course we all say, "yes!". Ashlyn had such a hard time not knowing where we were going. I got a neighbor to watch Lennox for the day and night and we packed up our things and left. I had a feeling to where he was taking us but I didn't want to spoil the fun for the kids. So off we go. It was only a 25 minute drive. When we got there the kids were so excited, especially since Ashlyn didn't have to wait too long to find out where we were going.
As soon as we checked in we changed into out swimming suits and hit the indoor water park. It was amazing how many water slides they had. Ashlyn was able to go on all but one, the Tornado. She wasn't tall enough. I was going to go on it by myself but I never got a chance. I heard it was pretty intense so I guess it was a good thing she wasn't tall enough. Brady had fun playing in the toddler area going down the little slides over and over. We also "shot all bad guys" with the water guns they had scattered about.
After having tons of fun in the water and feeling so water logged, we checked into our room to change. The kids loved the room with the built in bunk beds. It was called Kids Kamp. They almost didn't want to leave the top bunk, especially since there was a TV in their Kamp. We finally convinced them to go play golf.
It was there first time playing mini golf, Ashlyn did pretty good and Brady loved putting the ball down the holes that had tunnels where it would shoot out somewhere else. Ashlyn wanted me to take score the second time we played. I would ask how many shots she took after counting about 6 or 7 and she would say, "2 mommy". She wasn't even playing against anyone since Brady didn't leave the hole with the tunnel. She is so competitive...no wonder she is my and Tommy's daughter.
We did more swimming after golf, then it was off to dinner and a kiddie show. All during dinner, Brady would say, "I want to see boy pop out". The little show was about nature with animals that sing and talk and some boy doll pops out of a tree stump. The kids enjoyed it. After that they had story time. The kids were pretty beat. So it was back to the room where Brady fell asleep in no time and Ashlyn thought it was so cool to watch TV in bed until she fell asleep. Sure enough, she asked for a TV in her own room when we got home...not a chance.
Very fun family vacation. We may go back sometime this winter.
